Journey Poem by Jenny Williams

Journey

She lifted up her hand
And touched a sky painted
Black
The emptiness and heaviness
Consumed her
So she closed her eyes
And sank
Into the earth

Right here is where
I need to be, she cried
And her tears became the sea
She laughed and the sound
Became the breeze
She danced and the earth
Trembled with each step
Then, soft and cool as the gentle rain
She wept

Opening her eyes once more
She ventured out into the air
Finding she could really fly
She laughed and danced
And wept and cried
And soared.

The sky had turned from
Black to white
Her journey: from the earth to light-
But she became them both
