Journey Towards Eternity Poem by Gautam Sen

Days are the mileage of life -
each one making us
old everyday
yet we all become
an accomplished hiker
day by day.

Youth at the mouth
of a long tunnel
where from
we've started journey,
is a replica
of our yesteryear.

Looking back time and again,
vain attempts often
made for a revisit
would but cause a delay -
hampering
the eternal process of relay.

If you still
feel like going back
to places left behind
inviting humiliation,
dissatisfaction would remain
as the only fate
for you.

Better to accomplish
life's journey forward
to avoid a dreadful stampede
in the final lap
well before reaching eternity -
A destiny for all.
