Just A Song Poem by Tommy LoMaglio

Just A Song

[A song for my wife... I love her.]

Verse one:
The dying flame is burning down
atop the candle stick
The pedals lay upon the floor
from the flowers that I picked
Nothing too romantic that
is sure to make you cry
But I want you to know that
I try

Chorus:
I tried to write some pretty words
But I couldn't
Tried to make the notes sound beautiful
But they wouldn't
Of all the times I tried and failed
Every time it came out wrong
I just wanted to write you a song

Verse Two:
Once again I see the sun
setting in the western sky
I've seen it time and time again
and know the time has passed me by
And who knows how much longer
I'll be in this lonely state
But I want you to know that
I'll wait

.: Repeat Chorus: .

Verse Three:
Now I bow my head to pray
that the Lord above show you the way
The day will come for all to start
When I give to you my heart
Of all the things I could sing
This I know is true
I want to let you know that
I love you
