Just A While Longer Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Just A While Longer

Swifter higher than any bird
Above the curtained sky
On Heaven’s wing on Heaven’s Word
On Heaven’s Wind I’ll fly

Above the world and all debris
Away from filth and grime
I’ll soar forever saved and free
Beyond the end of time

Living by faith and not by sight
I see the future clear
My wedding gown of liquid light
And He I love so dear

With God I have a rendezvous
Within The Promised Land
A house He’s built with perfect view
For me to live as planned

This world though eager to vacate
Willing with all my heart
For but a while I need to wait
Before I can depart

I don’t begrudge a moment though
Recalling days gone by
Before life’s seed was mine to sow
And self began to die

Oh what a Lord and what a friend
Such wondrous love divine
His promises will all transcend
For all He has is mine

What’s up above I cannot see
Nor still as yet have heard
But with life’s endless Guarantee
I’ve God’s eternal Word
