Just Call It The Heart Poem by Femi Ademiluyi

Just Call It The Heart

Red, puny and extremely foolish,
Blind as a bat yet the leader of the mullish,
'Follow your heart' as my Mama used to say,
little did she know, its all been taken away.

Red, deceitful and expediently Breakable,
Jealous to the core and dangerous in War,
Scary in Love tho comforting in Hate,
Drowsy in learning and easily forgetting.

Red, pricky, ecstatic and horrified,
Self destroying tho healed by time,
What if i had none i thereby wished,
then maybe i would be happier time after time.

Red, not the color but the person it makes,
Hot when Hurt and Cold when Old
angrily merry in the midst of diverse breaks,
Cant throw you away so welcome abode.
