Just For Today Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Just For Today

Just for today, I'll take this day,
No future's weight, come what may.
A single slice, a manageable task,
A lifetime looming is too much to ask.

Just for today, I'll choose to smile,
Happiness I'll create, for a little while.
A mindset shift, a conscious art,
A joyful feeling, a brand new start.

Just for today, I'll bend and flow,
Accepting what is, let worries go.
Adapt to the luck that comes my way,
Embrace the present, come what may.

Just for today, my mind I'll feed,
A book, a lesson, a planted seed.
No mental loafing, sharp and keen,
Think deeply now, a vibrant scene.

Just for today, I'll be so kind,
My actions and words, you surely find.
Agreeable now, my outward face,
Polite, courteous, full of grace.

Just for today, a plan I'll make,
A gentle guide, for goodness sake.
No rush, no doubt, I'll find my way,
Avoiding hurry, come what may.

Just for today, a quiet pause,
For peaceful thought, without a cause.
A half an hour, to simply be,
And find my perspective, wild and free.

Just for today, I won't fear,
Beauty I'll cherish, holding it dear.
Believe in giving, and trust in return,
Lessons to share, each lesson to learn.

Just for today, I'll do a deed,
A kindness sown, a helping seed.
And what is harder, face it strong,
Where did I feel hurt, I wont let this on.

Just for today, I will be good,
I dress for myself, the way I should.
To critiscise, I shall restrain,
Because today, I can be sane.

Just for today, A plan I'll make,
A gentle guide, for goodness sake.
No rush, no doubt, I'll find my way,
Avoiding hurry, come what may.

Just for today, a quiet pause,
For peaceful thought, without a cause.
A half an hour, to simply be,
And find my perspective, wild and free.

Just for today, I won't fear,
Beauty I'll cherish, holding it dear.
Believe in giving, and trust in return.
Lessons to share, each lesson to learn.
