Just Friends. Poem by Bri Marie Ormsbee

Just Friends.

I said goodbye.

You must have misunderstood because you whispered back Hi.

We said this was the end.

So please just let go of my hand.

Stop whispering “I love you”

If you continue this, I won’t know what to do.

In your bed we lay.

Has this just become a game you play?

And you say I love you to her but you say it is a lie.

You said goodbye to me but now you question why.

I know were not supposed to do this.

Take my hand quick and steal me one last kiss.

I don’t want to be a girl that you use.

It’s me or her you have to choose.

You kissed me like you used to.

And stupidly I said back “I love you.”

And you hold me close and kiss my neck.

It seems to me you want me back.

Even if it’s fake this is total bliss.

I guess I was more than you thought you’d miss.

But I promise nowhere in my mind is there hope.

I’ll first give my life to the hanging promises of a rope.

The past few days have been bliss but still confusing.

Our love, this thing it’s what we’re abusing.

You’re still in love with me….

You’re really just lonely, what about that can’t you see?

I guess this really is the end.

I know you love me, but for now just call me your friend.

Again you say you love me.

But I guess this just wasn’t meant to be.
