Just One More Poem by Nicole GravellPellerino

Just One More

Just one more beer
you always beg
one more sip
of that toxic syrup
another taste of the devils deadly liquid

Just one more
to soothe your nerves
and put your hectic mind at ease
just one more
to make it through another day

one more, just one more
you keep telling yourself
but its always the same
one more is never enough
one lead to two, two leads to three
and three becomes.. a twelve pack

You say you do not need it
and its all in my head
you can stop any time
but years and years of watching
you alcohol glazed eyes
and drunken staggers, show me otherwise

Just one more beer,
just one more
those toxic lies
have broken my soul
and destroyed my childhood

its not fair and its not right
that all of your just one mores,
turned into endless nights
of me crying myself to sleep
and pondering what I did wrong,
and why you would choose
just one more over your children

So, let me tell you
just one more time
take all of your sad excuses, pathetic lies
and just one mores
and walk out the door
