Just The Man I Want Poem by Yiennarda Enk

Just The Man I Want

On a red-platform carpet
You squatted
Hugging your beloved guitar
All the passion, I can see from a far

You twisted and turned the knobs
Making each sound harmonize
I can feel your zeal in every pluck
The thrill gets in your eyes

I wondered why you stood up
You came near a friend and tapped his back
You took the sticks from him
And showed him how to drum

For a second I thought you were John Bonham
The beat, the hammer, so wild, oh man!
The thumping, the pounding, the craze can’t stop
You made me move my feet to bop

You gave back the sticks to your buddy
Who like me, was still in awe
You stepped towards the ivories
You are again about to start a show

Oh no, you can’t be the same man
Who just made magic with the drums
As your finger stroke the first key
And then rammed thru the last…
I just can’t help but bow low
As the harmony started to cast

You played a song from Jars of Clay
My all-time favorite band
I’m officially in love with you that day
My heart was clubbed by my right hand

And then finally you yelled out
For your mates to come
Mixed the sounds from the amp
Fixed the wires and the mic stand

You then grabbed the base guitar
Oh yes, another instrument in your hand
The sticks were clapped… 3,2,1
You closed your eyes as you sang

Oh such a flame my one-man-band
I just wish you also had your delight in me
I’m already sixty, and I’m still such a fan
Gee, your music still resides
…in my soul and memory

.... Just the Impossible Man
