Just Us Poem by Tree Elise

Just Us

Rating: 0.5

America has twisted my mind into thinking
I need someone like me
A man with money or a useless degree

But it just so happens that in all actuality,
When it is I and him, all I need is we
And at that moment nothing could be a tragedy

Our beings together make me feel as though he is me
I can feel him dive into my soul conforming his body to the inner me
The me that no one knows exists, the me that is never seen

You see, when we part it is safe to diverge for when us two are in the same place,
Well, there really is nothing left to say

We don't need to verbalize the conceptuality of us
We don't need to act on the physicality of lust
Yet everyday we continue to build on the formality of trust

When I look into his eyes I feel myself swimming in the depths of his ocean
And when I am there, the only air I need is the air that he breathes
Because without him, there would be no me
