Kargil Day Poem by JASMINE GREWAL

Kargil Day

On that dark night,
When the whole country calmly slept,
In the silence of those cold winters,
Those brave men slowly crept,
Loaded with ammunition,
With only one ambition,
of taking back, once to the country which belonged,
Leaving behind their kith's and kins,
To proclaim victory was all what they longed.

Taking their positions,
with the country's thought,
The posts were so silent,
So nervous were the soldiers,
But as the silence broke in haste,
Their nervousness disappeared.

Their teamwork, Their compassion,
Bravery & determination,
Paved their path towards victory.

Three months the battle lasted,
The year was nineteen ninety nine,
The Indian soldiers were so devoted,
The battle one day had to resign.

They laid their lives
for the nation's glory,
Their families cried
and the whole country was sorry.

They proclaimed Tiger hill,
The pride of kargil,
so, in their honour kargil day is celebrated.
