Key Poem by Jeremy M. Dreher

Key

Rating: 5.0

I feel like an unusable key
The key basically has no purpose
No one will ever know the correct door
No one will ever find the lock it's used for
Left alone
Searching for my second half
In an empty place
In an empty sea
Where there is not a trace
Of that fish that's meant for me
Like a cell phone without reception
Like a toy without batteries
Like SpongeBob without Patrick
Like our society with no internet
Like life without death
Like love without people
Complete incompleteness
I'm not a bobby pin
I feel like I will never pick a lock
There is one, one of everything
But there is only one key to fit that one lock
That the key may not ever find
It sometimes gets to the point where
The key doesn't even want to try
