Keyboard Skies

(i)

When the gale crosses
the shivering hands
flipped and stretched out
from rolling wrists,
squawking hens are heard

between the sliding, creeping
and gliding palms
of boys finger-punching
keyboards to command skies
on a stretching screen.

Rattling with clouds and suns
in a stretchy firmament.
O cerulean skies carrying
daisy hanging gardens
galloping and flowing with a silver hue.

They fall down on pages
like crawling roaches leaving
black mud marks
of feces that hang on,
but do not smell or ring bells.

And the boys gawk
at each other, flying with birds
on the screen to stop
with wriggling hands the flow
of images chewing off
their eyes into heavy pebbles.

(ii)

Like moneys, keyboards
chatter and grind teeth
and squeak. And moving chairs
hoot for a heavy chorus.

While light winds through
palmate leaves gazing
on branches' crawling arms
rub and scrub out
bird-throated altos

to bite and nibble off
ringing ears burning and popping
with glowing nerves
and no flowers to grip.

The boys on high chairs
and low stools face skies
on a riding screen
that screams with dashes.

And birdy commas and dots
punched in like pistols
fired on golden silver letters.

All spit out letters
overgrown finger nails
can't scratch out
from overgrown wind-braided hair

to roll across screens,
as letters chase feathered letters,

winged birds of fleeing
winged thoughts
they can't peck off at one go,
leaving no afterfeathers.

(iii)

And after a quiz
done with hands and crawling
worm-like toes
below grunting, squealing desks,

heads are raised
and bobbed
at a ceiling stretching out
its own sky to walls

that plant their sturdy legs
like guards
in loose and tight puttees,
as they pull them up.

Bawling out at the boys
"what did you do
on your sky screens",

as they squeak back
they've jumped down
from high skies
that flipped out no bird
to catch and hold,

as the quiz has nailed them
to a weevilled cross.
