Ill try to remember the best things about you
and ill try to forget all the bad memories
and ill tell my kids and grand kids to come
about how you would of been
and I wont let them know about all the times you made me cry
and I wont tell them how you broke every promise you ever made
and wont let them see the real picture
and ill wont speak of you in harsh terms
ill remember you the way were
but they will never see your faults and mistakes you given me
and they’ll see how you raised me
but they wont noticed the scars you’ve left behind
and I wont let my kids and grand kids to come see
the bad things you did
and they’ll never know how your disease got a hold of you
they will know you as grandpa and that’s all ever know
cause I wont let them think of you as the man you were
but as the man you could be all those years you weren’t there for me
cause you spent your better days in a drunken mans phase
but they’ll think of you as good old grandpa
just a friendly old mans face
