Kiss The Little Donald's Hand Poem by Barney Rooney

Kiss The Little Donald's Hand

Rating: 5.0

Oh yes, I'd kiss the Donald's little hand
tag along in his loyal band
for its as close as I, an ordinary man
will get to the feel of power

Yes, yes, I'd follow the little Donald's path
whoop along as he vents his wrath
front of the crowd the hand to grasp
for its as close as I'll get to leaving here

Yes I'll take the little Donald's word
quieten my doubt if its too absurd
truth's like that, believed as heard
for its as close as I get to hope

I'll even repeat the little Donald's lies
why not?
they're just a trick to win the prize

I've lived with hard to tell the truth
from lies, marching, preaching in the guise
of all that's good and holy the clean cut
back slapping pocket filling
do the dirty always willing
come the day face the other way
respectable little Donalds who cut the cards
fix the odds play the short game
the long game any game to make a name
tell us where to sit, where we fit
hold the line, you can't quit
but take the strength of our backs
the heat of our anger
to carry them to power

Then a real live full size Donald comes along
plays us for fools
re-writes the rules
its hard to admit but
I wouldn't know where you would start
to be able to tell the little and the large apart
