Kojagrat Purnima Poem by Medha Upreti

Kojagrat Purnima

Kartik Shukla Purnima,
annual harvest moon,
last day of Dashain,
the fifteenth day,
the night sky
lit with Chandrama.
He is full in shape
radiant and luminous
on Kojagrat Purnima.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The harvest moon or Kojagrat Purnima falls on October 20 this year of 2021. It is the last day of Dashain. Farmers harvest their rice crops and ready their field for the month of Mangshir/Margasira (November) . In November the 'hiude baali' or winter crops are sowed. Kojagrat Purnima symbolises both the end of one crop season and start of another.
