Kurukhetra Poem by NRUSINGHA MISHRA

Kurukhetra

Eighteen days of war have taken a heavy toll on human lives
I am wondering what happened whether truth in it really lies
Suddenly began to feel the inner intense battle within me wages
Hounding me from all sides leaving me in utter confusion and shatters
Sight, smell, touch, taste and sound flattering me as five friendly companions
One hundred voices apeared as formidable foes raising fierce weapons
One side I see my five friends engaged in action
The other side those hunderd vicious voices pulling me opposite direction
The battle went on and on and more experienced warriors joined the hundred voices
I had to decide where to go, go with the seemingly charming friends
Or go with the hundred intimidang foes gurdeed by huge army battalions
See anothher stalwart called desire claiming as an illegitimate eldest brother to the five senses
I started to run away from the battle among the opposing forces and accompanying devastation
Safely found a chariot guided by strong powerful personality called soul in an instant realization
