La Vida Sucia (Dirty Life) (2009) - Poem by David Joel Rodriguez
Sometime later I became slithering mud...
Showering and dripping sandy brown
Could not tell where it came from
Gradually disintegrating all around
'I guess I felt like dirt most of the time'
Wasn't expecting to literally feel like it
Too late now; flushing myself down pipes
sluggish pieces everywhere the water hit
Disease infested tunnels of disgust...
Rubbing up against as to embrace...
Saturated with aged layers of rust...
Smothering what's left of my face...
Merging with all kinds of 'tasty' bacteria
From pipe to pipe becoming legally gross.
Waiting for an end, subdueing with no idea
Farther and deeper, becoming a lethal dose
