Lady Winter Poem by Nick KingBriggs

Lady Winter

As she lays down to take her final few breaths she feels a presence come over her. A dark and beautiful, yet ominous presence. A presence that tempts you to lay down with it and sleep. But with this sleep comes danger. For if one gives in to this temptation they may not realize it’s cold grasp until it is too late.

Although this presence holds no quarter, with her she brings beauty. Beauty anticipated by many, yet feared by some. Beauty that is rarely seen and rises above all. She may come gentle at first. It may seem there is no danger in her presence, but before long, she will show all her true wrath.

With her death she realized she will be forgotten. Where once children play around her, she is replaced by this presence. At one time she was admired for how lovely she was. Now someone else has come to take her place. To everyone around her the future without her is brighter than the past, with her. But not to worry, for she will rise again, bringing joy to all that she oversees.
