Lake Michigan Poem by moon dust

Lake Michigan

Rating: 3.8

From the first dawns of spring to the closing eves of fall
I could stay
I could sit and listen forever to your songs
Always you've been here
Before me, and after I'm gone
Your music of the waters will play on
You have become my sanctuary
Listening to me as I have to you
My drunken ramblings, my tears, joys and prayers
Even nights I'd stand at your edge
Screaming out at you
Raging into the black
You listened
I have never been afraid here
So much over the years
I've slept here, played here, made love here, and hid here
In my soul
I've lived here long before this time
In my heart, in my mind
You are ageless.
