Lakeside Poem by Jacquelyn Gagnon

Lakeside

it's so calm and cool
only the breath of the storm remains
The night is a photograph
of black and white, so still yet
so alive. across the lake only a
few lights can be seen. like
stars in the black tree line sky
the gaining breeze sends a chill
to the core. surrounded by silence
in all the nights glamour. water
can now be heard meeting the
sand.
Startled.
by a dogs bark-hesitant yet fierce
several more cause a return call
only to hear the secure sounds
of a masters voice. shaken yet
relieved, thoughts can wander again
Where did they go? Why were they
here? edgy
