Lamp Post Eyes Poem by KUNAL SETH

Lamp Post Eyes

I stood there every day every night
The heads never turned even when I was bright
I oversaw my guests, my flowers and occasional nests
I was carefully placed from where I could watch all the gates
I was the involuntary witness to all the emotions
Meant or not meant they both were alike in my eyes

Too much to see
Too little to believe
Sometimes I am just a lonely being out in the breeze
Bizarre ivy hugged my feet
Trying to cloud my mind
But I breathe free I am no one’s tree

The weariness never creeps
I am just a candle when the sun sleeps
On the centre stage performing my only act
Showing world the illusion of illume
A treat hard to refuse
Only one trick up my sleeve
No panic my audience is at ease.
