Language Denial

Words
They rush and tumble out of me
And yet...
They are stale
Their familiar tastes bring no pleasure or comfort
Their crumbs and morsels blend
I find no solace among these traitorous bindings
Who fail to convey my deepest heart and sense
So why do I return?
Again and again I come back,
Hoping this time I'll master them
This time they won't skitter beyond my reach
They won't flail and squirm as I try to command some sort of order
Open yourselves
I whisper
Please
I beg
Black upon white
Failures to impart the dazzling, overwhelming color of connection
Each time just a bit closer
Each time a tiny sliver more revealed
And so the pilgrimage continues
I chip and blast and will them
Farther, we must go farther!
Now isn't the time
Because we are just symbols
But soon or someday or the end of forever as we know it
Then you will obey
My elusive, elucidating locutions
