Language Problem 5 Poem by Sheshu Babu

Language Problem 5

(in India, some prisons don't allow prisoners to speak to their relatives in native mother tongue.
Here is an imaginative dialogue hinting at problem of miscommunication)

" How are you? "
" I am well"
"Well! Well is deep! "
Not that well....."
"That well is hell....! "
This well....? "
"This well is hell than that well...."
"No! I said I'm well...."
"That's why I'm afraid...."
"No! I'm not speaking of 'that' well....! "
"I know! Our village well is deep like hell....! "

Both confused

"No! I'm alright..."
"Am I wrong...? "
"I'm not speaking of wrong and right...."
"Yes! I know that you are right in every way...."
"I can write but you can't read..."
"That's what I said.... You are right and I'm wrong..."

Meanwhile, time is up for meeting relatives
The prisoner is asked to go back to cell.....

Confused both depart from the place.......

Lol. It ought to be a comic strip by Mr. Bean or someone. Reminds me of " Mind your language" A SITCOM of yore
