Last Breath Poem by virat joshi

Last Breath

As the noise of rushing doctors & nurses begin to faint in the room...
I see with my fading eyes my loved ones looking at me & holding my cold hands...
The air around me starts to turn cold...
i want to reach out, give a loud moan...
Pain is unbearable now and is taking over me...
My mind has gone numb...
I gasp…
I open my eyes and feel warm, find myself lying under an apple tree…
With Sun gazing on my face from between the leaves…
I feel the summer wind blowing, with smell of leaves and fresh soil around me Butterflies flutter around me and I hear a faint noise. An apple falls from the tree...
With a soft thud it falls & I reach for the apple. Its bright red and smells luscious...
In the distant I hear my wife and kids laughing and playing... waving at me...
I feel their presence, sudden calm takes over me...
life has come to a full circle..
I planted this apple tree with my son and now it’s ready to embrace me...
I slowly close my eyes...
