Last Call For Lost Causes Poem by Sarah Stalder

Last Call For Lost Causes

I'm a master of social illiteracy
A song out of rhythm no playing it coy
Thought and action contradictory
A gambit I never learned how to employ

I need very little but desperately so
Denying the fact it is I who am lost
Resilience forgotten too brittle to grow
Recalling the rush but forgetting the cost

I admit to the wavering faith in my heart
While I cling to this tenuous love as my tether
These last pieces of me if again pulled apart
Simply aren't sufficient to fit back together.
