day by day,

I take for granted
the most basic
of life's pleasures
now,
late in life,
from my bed at
the Harbor Rest Home,
I watch for two hours,
awaiting the final
pleasure
on my Bucket List
as I watch,
the first
glorious rays
of the sun's new day
penetrates
the Earth's Veil
the sunrise,
my last vision
glorious
quiet,
finally,
I can rest
