Last Valentine! Poem by Afnan Bhimani

The night I remember u said; I m ur valentine,
dancing, replenishing food with a cup of wine.

U made the night more bright,
arranging for me a Candle Light!

Soon we were somewhat drunk,
departing forever with our hearts sunk.

Then slowly u sit, tightening the string..
playing faster and faster u sing,

A tune much more sad then before
The audience demanding performance once more...

U stood beside me upright,
holding my hand; raising ur sight.

U commenced the PIPA; but high and low..
Somewhat quick - somewhat slow!

As if pearls big n small;
dropping alternately into a jade bowl.

Wow, it sounded so nice;
a stream flowing under the ice.

Finally the sound ceased all of a sudden;
as if the stream was just frozen!

Clapping hands; all around; said 'CHEERS'
leaving me tounge-tied; all wet with tears....
