Lately Poem by Gillian Commerford

Lately

Rating: 3.5

Lately when I go into my garden
a green and gold butterfly appears
circling around me
in a dizzying motion
as if desperately trying to communicate.
I try to interpret
the language of its dance-
I think it speaks to me of the joy
to be found in living
of how beautiful life can be-
but then again
a housefly often comes to sit on my nose
I think its reminding me
of the one negative thought
I carry with me always-
the one I can't seem to let go.
