Laughing In The Dark Poem by Dan McGonagle

Laughing In The Dark

He sits by the window... his eyes staring out
The landscape is different... for him theres no doubt
The nurse wipes his mouth with tenderest care
No memories remain of how long he's been there

A smile touched his face as he sat in his chair
A spark of emotion still flickered in there
He drifted away to a time long since gone
As a young man who loved life for whom the sun shone

Now he is back in his hospital room
Lying in bed as the light fades to gloom
In his dreams he goes walking hand in hand to the park
For there he stands laughing aloud in the dark
