where did you think
we'd go if you had
ignored your heart
and left us alone?

did you think i would wait
here by the lake
forever?

oh, i wanted to wait.
but i knew

i knew

that you weren't going
to return

so
i
left

your soul on the rocks
and laid my soul
beside yours

so at least
when we aren't together

the very centre of our being

can't
ever
be
apart
