Leaf Poem by Zaffar Qureshi

Leaf

Rating: 4.0

Don't ask me why,
look, look at me,
and smile,
pretend that you understand,
pretend that this makes sense,
pretend that it's fine.
Listen,
even if I make no sense,
listen,
emotions and words,
could never become friends.
In immense bliss,
this moment drowns,
drown with it,
and sing along-
Bliss oh bliss till you're gone,
I shall sit on the autumn leaves,
and through the night into the dawn,
sing a song so woebegon,
that every forgetful passerby,
would smell of unspoken goodbyes,
and then and only then I shall,
fall from my autumn leaf.
