Learning To Love Again Poem by Marleigh Campbell

Learning To Love Again

Whatever it was is was pure
Pure as the snow that was falling the first time I heard you speak
Speak to me

Move your lips against my ear as you whisper my name
Move them against mine
What they say is true 'love is blind'

It had been so long since I was seen
As anything other than what I saw myself to be
And that was nothing
As nothing as the nothingness that I felt where my heart should beat
Beat like his fist
Not just physically

Abused
For too long to heal too fast
Fast though I was falling for you I couldn't leave the memories alone
Alone as I was even as I lay by his side
A side of him I still loved but was afraid of
Everything comes back to those scars

But I rise
Above the pain and the past
Lifted up by your love.

So for you,
You who loved me through my pain
You who was painstakingly patient with me
Me who was learning to love again.
I'll trust you to love me the same

Very touching poem. If you find someone to love you through your pain, they are very understanding. Great poem.
