Leave Me A Rose Poem by melissa fox

Leave Me A Rose

On my shadowed doorstep
there are paintings of the past
shattered glass on the welcome mat
and blood stained the wooden pane
but I shall know a better life
one without the darkened strife
a pity's end and tortures' defeat
through clouded halls and those I meet
I'll hold their souls in my weathered hands
and watch them shower all the lands
with grace and love
flown by a dove
that carries mine and to be yours
through the pearly doors
and letting go the pictured life
i'll know the sharp end of a knife.
