This morning I’m leaving
I only pray I can hold on until first light
Kiss your nose and fight the tears
I know now, I don’t belong here

My head aches with the weight
My heart breaks under the pain
And my shoulders finally collapse under the strain
Do I have the strength

I can still hear your breath and feel you calling
How I long for your eyes to open
To be pulled into the folds of your heart
And know the peace of your arms

You’ll never apologize
Because you won’t know
How much it hurts
Being so close and so far
To you, my shooting star

I give you all that I can
Show you all the words I never said
Do all the things I tell myself I can’t
Fall over and over again

All of this you asked
All of this you accept
You never knew
And I’ll never get it back

This morning you won’t know that I am leaving
That this part of me won’t come back
I’ll say it’s you I love
And kiss your nose while you’re sleeping
