a hermit crab
crawling on the
sands
and it sees you
and does not
trust you
and it runs
away from you
and you
chase it
and then it curls
back to
its shell
helpless upon
a defense
of hiding itself
again
you leave it
finally
alone by itself
and perhaps
both of you are
happier
i can sense it
this time
