Left Poem by Alade Abayomi Idris

Left

Roofing sheets left the house
Leaving all that it was supposed to protect
When the wind blew.

The topsoil danced away
Leaving the nutrients that it was supposed to protect
When the flood came.

Like the roofing sheets and the topsoil
The man left without uttering a word
Leaving behind, the family he was supposed to protect
When husky voice of death called.
