Let Me Arrive Poem by Khalid al Maaly

Let Me Arrive

Now as I pass on the road
I see the one night fastened
to its day. I speak
and am silent,
then speak again
as I pass on the road.

With silence,
I make my glances laugh
waiting for the voice
that comes from within
to disperse the misty mirages
and let me pass.

O let me arrive,
smelling the sunset breeze
running over the dusty road
toward childhood,
gathering my memories in a sack
and covering my head
with the aspirations
that never found a road
and slept in the shade.
