In a world blinded by light,
We forget that there are stars.
When the day has finally become night,
And silence overpowers the sounds of life,
There, the light has flickered.
And the darkness had come
to take us instead.
However, this is a reflection of our world.
We are often distracted by the hymns of chaos,
By the sounds of justice and fairness,
We have forgotten the soft cry of peace.
We become mindless individuals,
Who become mindless soldiers,
Who then join the wars of others,
And become secret dreamers,
Of hope, stability, and warmth.
And yet, when given the chance,
We quiver like a wounded bird.
Unfamiliar with the feeling of reform,
Unfamiliar with the power to settle.
We are with too much anguish
and much sorrow and aching.
We have been told to act for peace,
but never in large quantities.
We have been distracted by the voices
of the powerful and the privileged.
Fearful that we might see the countless
possibilities that shine above.
Fearful that we might soon understand
that there is more to people
than their identities or status.
Fearful that we might be more than
Twice they will ever be
in this system
that dims the sky
and convinces us that the sun
can be the only star to shine.
In turn, we trade houses of gold
in the expense of exploiting those below us
to fit in with our 'masters'.
And once we open our eyes
to see their 'Art',
we then realize
We were the canvas all along.
We were the tiny blots of paint
in the sky,
but they painted us over
because we were too bright
to fit in their perfect picture.
However, this should never stop us
from reconnecting with our fellow abused.
For peace and justice take many forms,
And in my eyes, they are those of shiny orbs.
They may fade for some time,
But perform patience and observe,
Our purpose, our peace- it never went away.
We just had been disillusioned, misplaced,
disregarded- confined from the ideas
and possibilities that made us, us.
May our peace that has been caught in between
The brightness of chaos slips away,
So that no more of us can go astray.
So until then, sit back and refrain,
Observe them until their system
cracks like rotten paint,
and when we see that they are as vulnerable as we had once been,
We shall pour water
and dance in their dying flame,
Until we can see the stars again.
