The unforgettable fire in my heart rages
Flames of love swirling and curling
When in sheer splendour love flags unfurling
Burning to cinder all doubt and pout pages
In morose moments lurking nearby
Peeling off stages where I waged your name
When doubts dribbled and scribbled blame
On the innocence to which you and I said goodbye
Climbing slopes where love lives
Opening eyes to vistas we fear
Might not return us to the clear
View which Christianity in its mercy forgives
If you and I should confess we swam overboard
And partook of the forbidden apple
When hearts proclaimed us supple
