Let Us Have Some Space Between Us

'A writer writes to disembarrass himself
of painful memories.'
(The Moon and Sixpence)
- W. S. Maugham

Not at all jealous, good friends rejoice
in each other's happiness, glory or grace.
Supportive all the more,
they allow space to each other
to have their own choice of things
dear to them and to breathe freely
so as to live in happiness and peace.

Let the good gap be there between us
as we remain friends,
that your happiness, the image of your dream
would fit in the space and read well
the pain hidden in the lake of your eyes,
soak the salt of your tears out
and make it fresh and shine with radiance,
the butterfly of your beauty, sans wrinkles,
transforming into fullness of form
and your genuine smile blossoming again.

Let it pour in poetry of pure passion,
the June joy embellishing itself,
to culminate in another glorious journey
set together with renewed vigour and love,
the young Adonis robust in will and resolve.

Does not one has the right to live and laugh?

Nothing wrong if lone forlorn birds,
unfortunate victims of the cruel hunter, fate,
both longing for meeting and mating
irrespective of age and norms,
bitten by the bug again and smitten with love,
now find solace in each other's warm passionate arms.

No, not the repetition of the sad story
of rescue and cold callous rejection,
let it grow there and flow with full force
to have another epic tale of union,
another KUMAR SAMBHABAM,
a unique vibrant Valentine's Verse.

Oh, if I could have my sublime seclusion
like Charles Strickland or Paul Gauguin
and be lost in my world of painting passion,
destroying it and starting all over again!
