Let us remember beautiful things
Let us remember them beautifully
Let us remember how we sat one night
In the open field
With our backs on the grass
And our fingers entwined
While we watched the moon
Shine beautifully on our faces
And into our eyes.
Let us remember how we sat one rainy day
On seats placed in the verandah of your house
And listened to the rain splatter on the roof
And onto the concrete floor
With our fingers entwined
And our gazes far into the distance.
Let us remember how we lay one hot afternoon
On a bed covered with sheets of deep blue
Our naked bodies glistening with sweat
Our fingers entwined
With a rickety fan buzzing closeby
And the breeze it blew, caressing our skin.
Let us remember how we ran on cool evenings
While on walks and strolls in the neighborhood
With you running, and I chasing
And the squeaks and peals and shrieks
That escaped our mouths
Mouths that later locked in deep kisses
When it became dark and nobody was looking.
Let us remember these things
Let us remember them beautifully.
