Letter To A Brotha Poem by Garrett Bradley

Letter To A Brotha

How's it goin' young brotha, it's been a minute, how you livin'?
I hope you coo' 'cause lately it seems like everyone is trippin'.
Moms and Pops are always fightin', my boys are triflin',
So I thought I'd pick up a pencil and start writin'.
You've always been a great adviser, even from the start,
That's why your departure nearly broke my heart.
Or maybe my actions led to your absence;
That's probably why I haven't heard from you since.
When I look back, boy, I was really wild.
But you can't blame me, I was only a child.
Now I've grown and realized the error of my ways.
Too bad this epiphany occured while you were away.
As I said before, man times is rough.
Now it seems that even hustlin' ain't enough.
We missed rent the for the past three months,
Now our landlord is on a mission to evict us.
You probably might've heard, but Grandma past.
Remember when I used to cuss and she'd beat my a**?
Man we had good times, remember when we used to bust rhymes,
And whistle at the chicks that we thought were fine?
Man, dog I really miss you.
I apologize for all those times I used to diss you.
D**n, i can't wait to return to the sod.
So I can chill with my boy, my brotha, my friend, my God.
