Letter To Jane Poem by Martin A. Ramos

Letter To Jane

Rating: 0.5

Dear Jane:
I thought with all the
protests and planning
the rioting, picketing

something permanent
would result
like the Pyramids maybe
or Hank Aaron’s home run record

guess now we were
only dreaming
King Kong’s out (the game
and movie)

Brokeback Mountain won
4 Golden Globes & 26 nominations
The war in Iraq is still raging
famine and drought in some

out of the way
who-knows-where God forsaken
place I can't pronounce
let alone remember.

And wasn’t it Brando
(the Wild One
the original rebel)
who turned down the Oscar?
