Liar Liar, House And Pants On Fire! - Poem by Sandra Dodd

Nap so needed!
Just for a moment or two.
Ah the quiet.
Hmm the snapping,
popping sound.
Disconcerting banging.
Is that the door?
What smells?
Oh shit, wake up!
Put the meat on
the indoor grill
by now its hot.

“Hey are you home?
Your house is on fire! ”
Then the door fell down flat
like a card falling
from a house of cards
Strong man says, 'Hey lady you alive? ”
from the flames we ran.

Need a new kitchen.
Have to call his work
tell my man,
but maybe not about the nap?
Wonder if we can get Corian?

Lie of omission
oh liar liar
pants on fire!
