Lies Poem by Michael Tulloch

Lies

O’ what lies our tongues do tell,
In our mouths our tongues should swell.
Past our lips our tongues would grow,
Till at last the world would know,
He who lies without true thought,
In the end he will be caught.

The lie we tell to hide the truth
Will bind us so we can’t break loose.
Each lie we tell to hide a lie,
Is one more lie we must deny.
The hole we dig with our shovel of lies,
Is one for us, for it’s our size.
