Life Poem by Odin Nordbo

Life

One saturday night they took her away,
Ripped her out of my shaking embrace,
'She'll be alright' they said,
Her heart stopped and they all forgot.

My heart was destroyed that night,
To my closest I was a disgrace,
Her friends they punched me and beat me down,
As if I was to blame.

I was broken down and torn to pieces,
My heart was shattered and gone,
I still remembered times together,
only that kept me going on.

I promised myself to find the man,
That shot her beautiful heart.

Seventy years went by so fast,
And I could feel my time had come,
I was sad I never found the man,
That had killed my only love.

But I was glad that I would see again,
My love that had passed.

As the gates of heaven opened up,
and I stepped inside,
My body was young again,
As if I never searched for the man.

I took three more steps,
then she jumped into my arms,
I could feel her warmth against my cheek,
And memories of happiness returned.

I smiled for the first time in seventy years,
But then the sky turned black,
And I was dragged away.

And as I adjusted my eyes to the darkness,
I felt a warm breath to my face
My hand reached slowly to touch her hair,
And I smiled and kissed her lips,
My dream was one of love and horror,
But now that I returned,
I love her more than ever before,
And I know that I will to the end of time.
