Life And Death - ' Wrapped In White ' Poem by Yamini Khanna

Life And Death - ' Wrapped In White '

Rating: 2.7

A little human seed in the pod
warmth, closeness, nurturing available with just a nod
the pain, for labour of love, endured and withstood
Wrapped in White, stark naked, brought into the world of brotherhood

Gurgling, Crawling, Walking, Talking
A little finger, strong hand holding
Must learn fast, and leave behind the gripes
Because this, my dear friend is the beginning of life

Weep, hurt, Laugh and share
sisters in act with agony and despair
Brave the storms, fight the fight
much to everyone's mental delight

Health now feeble and weak
Many years of struggle, the road ahead steep
Lessons kept and Experiences discarded
The soul on the 'Chariot of Life' guarded

Hoarding and Clinging, a natural path forever clashed
Acquisitions, possessions in quest of peace trashed
Inception of reality in thoughts and mind
How little time devoted to deeds, remind

Moment of truth, pricks in the chest
tired and weary, soul now hankers after rest
family, friends, memories in time standby
Wrapped in White, stark naked, time to bid goodbye!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Three deaths in a row, in our circle of Family and Friends... made me think and wonder about our journey and eventual departure from the world. We hold on to our Egos, Pride, Material Possessions, only to leave naked and empty handed: (!
