Life For Granted Poem by Rosa Williams

Life For Granted

To be with someone and not know it
To be in love with someone you cannot have
The longing of a touch and cannot feel
Wanting to listen but cannot hear
Wanting to know the look of everything but cannot see
Wanting to speak or sing and to open your mouth
And not a word, a sound
Not even a peep come out
Wanting to run, walk or just reach your arms and hands out
But cannot move
Are all the things we take for granted
And many wish they could do
We are so lucky but were to dumb, to blind, and greedy
To recognize we got it easy
We may think the life we live or the things we have are nothing
But to others, what we're living is what they hope and dream
They would give anything to be in someone elses shoes
Like many of these young kids and adults who have cancer or some other disease
To them where perfect
While were complaining about little things gone wrong
There in and out of hospitals, taking meds and shots
With all this faith and hope, they hang on
While the doctors know deep down inside
There time is running out
That soon their bodies will give out
When all they long is just a day or an hour
To live a normal life
While we waste almost every second on thinking of ourselves
When we should think of others and how we can help
I think of them as angels in training
When their ready for there wings
To heaven there spirit is released
To me there perfect because many of them have something we don’t
And for many it’s hard to see
They have Jesus in there heart
Which is something we all need
