Life's A Circus Poem by Cabaline xxx

Life's A Circus

He blunders into the spotlight,
to rounds of excited applause.
He begins his act.
Messed up magic tricks,
people squirted with water,
taking custard pies in the face-
all with a massive, silly grin,
as the audience roars with laughter.
At last the show ends,
and he stumbles his way out of sight.
He sits at his vanity table,
removes his wig and ridiculous shoes,
but never looks in the mirror.
Instead he holds his head in his hands.

When he finally looks up,
both his real smile and his painted one
have completely vanished.
His make-up having been smudged,
by the tears of a clown.
